Entry #4 — Repurposing Old Tech
One of my current hobbies has been repurposing and tweaking old tech I find in old storage boxes in my closet. It started with my Nintendo DS lite that I got when I was around 6 years old. It's in mint condition and I found all my games for it. Then I found my brother's 3DS and ended up modding it and keeping it for myself since he didn't want it. Now I've found our old PS Vita Slim but it has stick drift on both joysticks so I'm looking to buy replacements to fix it myself before modding it.
Yesterday I found an old Sprint Alcatel One Touch Pixi 7 (Such a long name lol) and got it up and running. The google playstore no longer works because it's running Android 5.1.1 and no matter what I tried, I couldn't get any google services to work on it besides the internet browser. I decided to give this little tablet a new life as my own little ereader.
I factory reset it and side downloaded an ereader app with my computer. It's been amazing! It's the perfect size, being about 7.5 in x 4.5 in or so (don't exactly remember) so it's big enough to read comfortably but small enough to fit in any of my bags. I can download books onto it by connecting it to my computer and I've been having a blast.
I'm itching to find another project to work on and I think that I want an mp3 player. They're cute, help me disconnect from my phone, and I've already started downloading my current spotify playlist to have as a backup in case I ever stopped paying for it (because I'm poor). I have this itch to go thrifting or go to the swap meet but I don't know if I'd be able to fix up a broken one. I could always learn (love me a challenge).
We'll see where this newfound hobby goes.
